What we do.

Our mPEAK Team offers in-person and online courses, coaching, therapy, and professional training in the application of mindfulness for stress resilience, performance optimization, well-being, and interpersonal relationships. We believe our human capacity for growth, change, and excellence is maximized by attunement to the present, self-compassion, and intuitive action. We serve individuals, groups, and organizations in professional, corporate, athletic, and community-based settings. We provide services for adults, young adults, and teens.

mPEAK (Mindful Performance Enhancement, Awareness & Knowledge) is a mindfulness training program for anyone seeking to achieve personal and professional goals, as well as attain new levels of performance and success.

 

What sets us apart.

Our team specializes in applied mindfulness training experiences. We lead workshops and retreats for performance enhancement involving real-time skills application. Our training offerings include mindfulness for scuba diving, freediving, indoor skydiving, hiking, and other mind-body endeavors. Our brain-body trainings translate directly to experiences “off the field” such as professional leadership roles which require peak performance and focus under pressure.

Our expertise synergizes U.S. military special operations training and leadership with extensive mental health, resilience, and performance knowledge and skills. We have sharpened and honed our skillsets through a combined 50 years of professional service in high performance realms.

The foundation of our coaching work is a deep belief that compassion involves a relationship between equals versus the healer and the wounded. Compassion is rooted in shared humanity. Ram Dass summed it up best when he said, “We're all just walking each other home.”

Dr. Carli Braun Kody

mPEAK Team Co-Founder.

Carli Braun Kody, PhD, LP, CDWF is a licensed psychologist and certified mindfulness coach who specializes in harnessing the innate power of our minds and bodies. Carli offers services for mind-body healing, resilience, and high performance pathways. Her expertise is rooted in the neuroscience of mindfulness, research-based methodologies, and an unwavering belief that human connection is a powerful catalyst for growth. With 23 years in the mental health profession, Carli brings decades of psychology expertise to her work with individual clients, groups, teams, and organizations.

Carli completed a doctoral degree in counseling psychology in 2008 and a master’s degree in counseling psychology in 2002 from the University of Minnesota. She is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF), certified by the Brené Brown Education and Research Group (BBEARG) in 2014. In 2016, Carli began training to be a mindfulness teacher through the University of California - San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness. She is a UCSD Certified mPEAK (Mindful Performance Enhancement, Awareness, and Knowledge) Coach and a Trained Teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).

Ben Durbin

mPEAK Team Co-Founder.

Ben Durbin is a Navy Veteran, Performance Coach, and UCSD Certified mPEAK Coach. Ben discovered mindfulness while seeking methods to enhance his performance in military training. A lifelong student of self-mastery, he continued to learn physical and mental techniques to improve performance throughout his 27-year military career, which included many tours within the Naval Special Warfare community during wartime.

After completing multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, Ben created a framework of mindfulness, breathwork, and movement that helped him heal from the cumulative effects of combat and post-traumatic stress. Ben’s approach to self-mastery and mental performance includes mindfulness as a core contemplative practice that strengthens emotional regulation and builds self-agency.

Ben is passionate about serving others in their journey to heal, build empowered minds, and perform at peak levels in all aspects of life.

Ben serves on the elite team at The Trident Approach, in addition to his work at mPEAK Team.

Our Training Pathways

 

The mPEAK Course

mPEAK (Mindful Performance Enhancement, Awareness & Knowledge) is a mindfulness training program for anyone seeking to achieve personal and professional goals, as well as attain new levels of performance and success. This cutting-edge training program is built around the latest brain research related to peak performance, resilience, focus, and “flow”. The mPEAK program enhances the human capacity of mindfulness through established and empirically supported practices and exercises. Mindfulness is effective precisely because it is a way of being and relating to all aspects of life, rather than a specific technique or tool for a particular goal. As with physical training, this brain training program is based upon the understanding that optimal outcomes occur most often when participants continue to engage in the practices and exercises on a daily basis as a part of their training regimen.

The foundation of this program is based on the highly respected and empirically-supported Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. Additionally, mPEAK incorporates elements of sports psychology, positive psychology and specific exercises formulated to correspond to recent neuroscientific findings and related research regarding optimal performance.

 

Mindfulness Trainings for Organizations

We develop custom trainings to meet your organization’s well-being needs and performance goals. We offer trainings via zoom or in-person at a physical location of your choosing. Up for an adventure and team-building? Hire us to provide mindfulness skills training in combination with a real-time opportunity to apply these game-changing skills. Workshops may include scuba diving, indoor skydiving, freediving, hiking, yoga, or an activity of your choosing.

 

1 - 1 Coaching

Coaching with mPEAK Team Co-Founders, Carli Kody and Ben Durbin, will equip you with all of the formal mindfulness practices offered in the mPEAK course as well as tools and practices that will most optimally support your performance goals. Private coaching sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly frequency. This schedule is designed to build on what’s working for you and to keep the learning/practice momentum going as you explore new mindful ways of navigating life/work/athletics. We provide weekly support as you examine what might be holding back in bringing your best to your performance goals.

Carli and Ben will coach you around deepening your mindfulness practices, synthesizing your established practices, and integrating new insights and wisdom you gain in the coaching process. We’ll support you in translating your awareness gains into behaviors and actions which support your peak performance, resilience, and well-being.
